Men in Authority:Higher than him, Light over dark (3) (2013)

Hello people!

Welcome to the 18th art story of the day! This story stems from the Men in authority series entitled light over dark, part three, felt strips  stitched on cloth. This work of art and all of the postings seen  on this blog goes towards the Cassondra Lenoir scholarship foundation for first-generation college students.  When you invest in art, you also invest in the future.  For more information please click on this link.

This is one of my favorite pieces in this series, because I was able to convey emotion even without a face . I stitched many colors as you can see , the dark blues , light blues as well as yellows and of course brown.  I really had a good time creating it because he was able to convey the emotion as I have with the other pieces. The tranquil light comes over the  officer and it shows where he gets his authority.  The officer is not the final authority so that’s what I enjoy most about this piece.

Would you make it again?

I don’t think,  I would do this particular piece again only because this was a time in which I was trying to convey the message of this particular series.  Every series is different so whenever I feel led to do a series it’s a one-time thing and I would say this was more experimental.  I was trying to see what good I can make out of the ordinary into work of art . In this case I was able to make it work out of old T-shirts . As I was led by the Holy Spirit as this being the third phase of the art I was conveying that the scripture , all things are made new like this old t-shirt that became a work of art.

Again people purchasing this piece today,  a portion of sales goes to the Cassondra Lenoir Scholarship Foundation. For more information about the scholarship, go to her website and there you’ll find more information about the author of this book from “Nothing to New York”.  Thank you so much and I look forward to talking to you next post.
